The limelight once overshadowed Tesla, which is known as a pioneer in the development of cobalt-free batteries, which caused great concern and heat discuss in the industry. At the press conference, Yang Hongxin, President of SVOLT Energy Technology, revealed that the SOP time of cobalt-free batteries is June 2021. "There is still nearly a year to go on the market, and various tests are still underway."

At the press conference, SVOLT Energy Technology once revealed that cobalt-free battery have three major characteristics: high safety, high capacity, and long life. Obviously, high safety features are the first element of power battery. Without the safety of batteries, nothing can be said about it. "Before the products are officially launched, our requirements are not only to pass all the tests of China's national standard GB/T31485, but also to pass all the more than 10 safety tests in the European standard IEC62660 and UN38.3." The energy density of this battery is 242Wh/Kg, the capacity is 115Ah, and the size is 33*220*102.5mm. In the safety test, there is no problem through the external short circuit safety test. From the comparison chart before and after the test below, it can also be seen that the overall appearance of the cell has not changed significantly. "This is attributed to the safety structure design of the cobalt-free cell."

In addition, in addition to acupuncture, the two most difficult safety tests mentioned above are the furnace temperature test (heating test) and the overcharge. Among them, in the furnace temperature test (heating test), the SVOLT Energy Technology's cobalt-free battery uses a more stringent temperature of 150 ℃, compared with the ordinary high nickel ternary 140 ℃ test results show that the cobalt-free battery has higher safety advantages. In addition, the cobalt-free battery overcharge test can also achieve 140% SOC, without fire. The overcharging requirement of the new Chinese national standard, which will be implemented next year, is only 115% SOC. It is worth noting that many safety accidents occur during the charging process, especially in winter, so how does the SVOLT Energy Technology's cobalt-free battery perform at low temperature? In fact, the SVOLT Energy Technology has already conducted rigorous low temperature tests on cobalt-free batteries. During the charging test at minus 20°C, even under a fully charged 100% SOC state, there is no lithium precipitation on the surface of the negative electrode, further verifying the safety of low-temperature charging of cobalt-free batteries is guaranteed.

At present, as there is no third independent stable supplier of cobalt-free cathode materials in China, SVOLT Energy Technology has also independently developed cobalt-free cathode materials. "In June this year, we started to increase the production capacity of cobalt-free cathode materials to 2 tons. It is good to verify the stable supply capacity of the continuous production of cobalt-free cathode materials." It is reported that in order to ensure the consistency and yield of cobalt-free battery products, the mass production of SVOLT Energy Technology cobalt-free batteries will have AI intelligence and advanced lamination process technology. This is the first time that SVOLT Energy Technology has adopted a car-standard factory in the battery industry to mass-produce cobalt-free battery products.
